Out N Back

We're still here! We haven't been that great at keeping up with our blog lately, but we have still had some amazing trips around Utah that we wanted to share with you. We found a few new spots that we loved, as well as visited some of our old time favorites. Here are some pictures from the last few months from Lake Powell, Bryce Canyon, Zion and Bears Ears!

Zion

One of our favorite trips from last year was when we went down to Zion in the fall because we loved being able to see the colorful fall leaves paired with the red rock backdrop.  Since we haven't had a chance to make it down to Zion this year yet, we decided to drive down for a quick day trip this past weekend.

It's been a crazy summer and seems like it went by in a flash! Did it fly by for anyone else?? We are so excited for the fall and it's definitely our favorite time of year! We love the cooler days and the crisp fall nights, and this is when we find ourselves out exploring every weekend! It's a nice change after a hot, busy summer filled with crowds everywhere you go!

Raven

This past weekend we headed down to Canyonlands for a sunset hike to False Kiva and some star gazing under the new moon. Out of the many times we have been to this area we have never done this monumental hike and I am so glad we were finally able to see it at sunset because this time of day casts the best shadows! The only thing I didn't enjoy were the bats that flew above us as we hiked back out! The desert seems to come alive at night with all the creatures above and around you! We decided to sleep in the back of the truck so we could spend the night looking at the stars. It was a quick, spontaneous trip but those have become some of our favorite because the memories we make last forever.

In Ruins

The last adventure we went on before we got married was a trip to Beef Basin. Beef Basin is a remote area in southeastern Utah about 50 miles southwest of Moab. It is encircled by Canyonlands to the north, Glen Canyon to the west, and Dark Canyon Wilderness to the south.

CACTI

Spring is finally here and we are taking advantage of every free weekend we have! We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful area where you can be in mountain meadows one day, and then in the desert exploring Indian ruins the next. We hope everyone is enjoying the change of season and getting ready for your next adventure! We definitely are, and we can't wait to show you what we have been up to!

Red Rock

Happy New Year!!  We had the best time celebrating Christmas with our family and wanted to get in one last trip before the years end, so we headed down to Moab for a few days to get in some hiking... Continue Reading →

Wild & Free

If you are like us even though you love the holidays it may also feel a little hectic and stressful. The desert has been calling our name, so our cure for the holiday stress was to take a break and hike the lonely red rock canyons.

Oh Christmas Tree

Over Thanksgiving weekend we headed out to fill our Christmas tree permit and finally get started with the Christmas season. We love having a real Christmas tree and the experience of going to the mountains to find and cut down our own. With high hopes of discovering the perfect tree we drove to the Manti-La Sal National Forest and started our search.
